We’re looking to add one (1) Full Time Permanent experienced Recruiter who’s passionate about Talent Acquisition to EPCOR’s dynamic HR team, based in Edmonton AB.

 

As a Recruiter at EPCOR, you’ll play a crucial role in sourcing, attracting and selecting top talent for our organization. You’ll work closely with hiring managers, HR, and other stakeholders to fill unionized and non-unionized positions such as engineers, project managers, communications professionals, and front-line workers in the Electricity Operations business unit.

If you’re strategic and a natural problem solver who likes to think outside the box, you’ll thrive in this role – you’ll be responsible for identifying and resolving complex sourcing issues within this dynamic area of our business, and contributing to a range of HR projects and initiatives.

 

This opportunity is open to Internal and External candidates, and is eligible for our hybrid work program.

 

What you’d be responsible for

 

  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate closely with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop proactive recruitment strategies for unionized and non-unionized positions, ensuring alignment with business goals.
  • Talent Sourcing: Utilize a variety of tools and platforms, including job boards, social media, networking, and industry events, to attract top-tier talent. We’re seeking an experienced professional proficient in using LinkedIn Recruiter to build talent pipelines and stay updated with the latest features of the tool.
  • Candidate Assessment: Conduct interviews, evaluate candidate qualifications, and provide recommendations to hiring managers, acting as a trusted partner in the selection process.
  • End-to-End Recruitment: Manage the entire recruitment process, from job postings to extending offers, ensuring a seamless experience for new hires and hiring managers alike.
  • Talent Pipeline: Build and maintain a robust and diverse talent pipeline in the areas of engineering, trades and operations to meet future hiring needs.
  • Union Relations: Maintain effective communication and relationships with union representatives regarding recruitment and hiring, ensuring a collaborative approach.
  • Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, legal requirements, and collective bargaining agreements for unionized positions.
  • ATS Management: Use applicant tracking systems to manage candidate pipelines and maintain accurate recruitment records, leveraging data to inform recruitment strategies.
  • Outreach Initiatives: Coordinate and participate in job fairs, campus recruitment events, and other outreach activities to attract talent, representing EPCOR as an employer of choice.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Provide regular updates to hiring managers and stakeholders on recruitment progress and challenges, fostering transparency and collaboration.
  • Mentorship: Mentor, coach and inform hiring managers and stakeholders on recruitment processes and best practices.
  • Onboarding Support: Assist hiring managers in placing the best talent, whether internal or external, and support the onboarding of new team members.
  • Candidate Experience: Deliver exceptional candidate experiences throughout the recruitment process, reinforcing EPCOR’s employer brand.

 

 

What’s required to be successful

 

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field.
  • Recruitment Experience: At least 5-7 years of recruitment experience, ideally within a corporate/operational environment. 
  • Union and Non-Union Expertise: Proven experience in recruiting for both unionized and non-unionized positions is preferred.
  • Recruitment Governance Knowledge: Strong understanding of employment laws, regulations, and best practices in recruitment, including behavioral-based interviews and candidate assessment methodologies.
  • Strategic Recruitment: Experience in conducting recruitment market research and developing effective recruitment strategies for hard-to-fill roles.  Experience recruiting for engineering, trades and operational positions is an asset.
  • Professional Certification: Certification in HR or Recruitment (e.g., CPHR) is preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in using HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems for recruitment and reporting.
  • Innovative Sourcing: Demonstrated ability to think creatively and utilize EPCOR’s ATS, social media and other non-traditional avenues (e.g., LinkedIn, Indeed) to source and engage candidates.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Positive Attitude: A sense of humor and the ability to have fun while working in a fast-paced environment.

  • To meet the physical demands required of some positions, candidates must be in good physical condition and willing to work in all weather conditions. Clearance on pre-placement medical and drug and alcohol testing may be required.
